In The First World War, the players control the armies that battled for control of Europe's destiny. Deploying the forces on a game board of Europe from Constantinople to the English Channel, they must fight for control of key cities to gain victory in an age of Total War.

August 1914: For two generations there has been no war between the Great Powers of Europe. Now, following the assassination of the Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Serb nationalists, the Central Powers (Germany and Austria-Hungary) are at war with the Allies (Russia, France and Britain). The cheering crowds in every nation expect their armies to return victorious "before the leaves fall". But there will be no easy triumph, and as more nations are drawn into the conflict, the bloodletting will continue on a massive scale for four more years. Finally, on November 11, 1918, a defeated Germany will sign the Armistice, ending what we know today as the First World War.

The First World War can be played by 2, 3 or 4 players. In a 2-player game, a player represents either the Central Powers or the Allies. In a 3-player game, one player takes the Allies, another Germany, and the third the German Allied nations of Austria-Hungary, and Bulgaria. In a 4-player game, one player takes the Western Allies, one takes the Eastern Allies, one takes Germany, and another the German Allied nations.

Nero: Legacy of a Despot List Price: $44.95 Your Price: $34.95 (22% savings!)

It is 69 A.D., Nero, the last of the Julio-Claudian Roman Emperors, is dead. Especially in the latter years of his regime he acted as a true despot, even ordering the murder of his wife Octavia to be able to marry Poppaea Sabina. When Rome was burning in 64 A.D. he accused the Jews and the Christian population with the crime, starting the first persecution of these innocent people.

In the space of one year, Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian, four Roman generals vied for the throne, each of them gaining their objective only, for three, to lose it as quickly as they gained it.

In Nero: Legacy of a Despot, you are a contender for Imperial power. Using your legions and political influence, your aim is to either seize and hold the Imperium by being declared Emperor, or to gather enough land and power so that, at games end, you are in position to do so.

Nero: Legacy of a Despot is an exciting strategic boardgame full of opportunities. The overall strategy is to become Emperor, stay Emperor, grab areas, and amass victory points. However, to do that, rather than take an extended overview and plan way ahead, the game requires players, instead, to react and act quickly, often making their own opportunities by playing the event cards sagaciously and timely.

Event cards include Assassins, Briberies, Bad Auguries, German Tribe Attacks, Galley Fleets, Crisis in Roma, the Praetorian Guard and many more!

Wilderness War takes two players into the French & Indian War, 1755-1760, the climactic struggle between France and Britain for control of North America. It uses strategy cards and a point-to-point map similar to GMT's award-winning For the People and Paths of Glory. Players maneuver and fight over a map stretching from Northern Virginia to Canada. As the leader or French or British forces in North America, you will need to defend your frontier, raid your enemy's frontier, build fortification networks through the harsh wilderness, recruit Indian allies, besiege forts and fortresses, and deal with events occurring in Europe that are above and beyond your control.

Wilderness War includes a deck of strategy cards for conducting campaigns and incorporating the many events and personalities of the war. The French player can recruit up to sixteen different Indian tribes as allies, secure a continental alliance in Europe against Great Britain, sortie his squadron at Louisbourg, force a ministerial crisis in London, and work toward draining support for the war from the provenciaal assemblies. The British player can recruit Mohawks and Cherokees, plan for and conduct amphibious operations, implement a global strategy via William Pitt, destroy the French fleet at Quiberon Bay, and expel the Acadians. Relive the history of this exciting time when the fate of Canada hung in the balance.

A House Divided (third edition) simulates the epic struggle of the American Civil War that was fought over the twin issues of slavery and states´ rights. The period from 1840 to 1861 saw the issues brought to a boil, and in 1861 the nation became tangled in a terrible war that lasted four long years. This game covers the war between the North and the South from the First Battle of Bull Run (or Manassas Junction) to Lee´s surrender at Appomattox (or Grant´s surrender at Harrisburg…). Each player becomes a leader of one of these two nations and makes the strategic decisions which determine the ultimate outcome of the war. Winner of Game of the Year Award 2003 in Germany! In Granada, the year 1278, one of the most interesting projects of the Middle Ages begins - the construction of Alhambra. Now you have a chance to take part in this amazing experience, and plot the fate of this Spanish wonder. Players must decide the best way to build their Alhambra and gain victory points in the process.

Contents of Alhambra:

60 building and start tiles 110 cards 6 summary boards 12 playing pieces 1 game board 1 scoretrack 1 rule booklet

This expansion for the awarding-winning game Alhambra contains four additional modules for the original game that can be used either singly or in any combination. Play is still based on the rules of the original game, and rule changes, additional rules and new equipment are explained on separate sheets for each module. This is not a stand-alone game. The original Alhambra is required for play.

The Vizier’s Favor is a module which allows the normal order of play to be interrupted for a special move: the purchase of a building tile. But this has its price - the building must be paid for with the exact money but you do not get an extra go!

The Bureaux de Change are six new playing cards which can be picked up like money cards. They make it much easier to pay exactly as if you hold one in your hand you can pay with two currencies instead of one. Unfortunately, you can only use a bureau de change card once. After that, it is placed on the discard pile.

Bonus Cards which have been played count as building tiles in the scoring rounds. As they are not normally played until later in the game, they can cause a few surprises when the scores for the buildings are awarded. However, you can only play them when you have added the building pictured on the card to your Alhambra!

There is a new kind of building for the Alhambra - the Workers’ Huts. If a workers’ hut is positioned skilfully, it can count as a maximum of three buildings of the same kind. But the workers’ huts are not only important for getting the most buildings; they also help players to plan their walls better. Unfortunately, each player can only use a maximum of three huts.

MANILA $44.99

It’s 1821, and for 250 years the Philippine Islands have been under the thumb of the Spanish crown. But in the shadow of the colonial power, self-willed natives have established secret maritime trade with neighboring islands and the Asiatic mainland. Using odd-looking punts and fragile bamboo barks, these black market traders cram their boats with nutmeg, silk, jade, and ginseng, and set sail to smuggle them into Manila. Success in each venture is uncertain, as the seaworthiness of both boats and captains is poor. To add to their woes, pirates lie in wait to plunder boats that cannot escape them. Given all this, it is not surprising that wares that reach the black markets in Manila command high prices, making the venture worth the risk for those who succeed. The black market dealers use accomplices to ensure they get the wares, bribe pilots to aid their cargoes and hinder others, and insure their cargoes against failure. And a few wealthy merchants hire pirates to attack the black market boats and secretly pocket the profits from these raids. Contents of Manila:

Gameboard 3 punts 20 accomplices 4 ware loads 4 dice 4 value indicators 20 shares 48 coins Rule book
